I've Got Sunshine

It's sunny in Seattle! Yes, sun in Seattle- I'm so grateful! it's reaching that time when the sun starts to peak out from behind the clouds more frequently and we are blessed with its beautiful rays, soaking up into our bodies.

One of my new favorite things is to greet the sun in the morning….it gets pretty early here in the summer, but I do it when I can. A great teacher of mine taught me that when the sun is rising and when it is setting, that is when the veil is the thinnest, and you should speak to the creator and ask for what it is you truly want. It's a lovely way to start the day.

On the health side, it's nice to be getting my vitamin D from the sun again! More and more, the evidence is popping up about how important vitamin D is for our health. Deficiency in vitamin D is linked to diabetes, hypertension, MS, and cancers, and the research base just keeps growing. I also definitely notice a difference in my mood when I'm low on vitamin D. So soak up the sunshine-don't be afraid of it- but don't overdo it either! Your mom is still right about tanning beds and baking in the sun for hours and hours all summer….you can get skin cancer from too much sunshiney goodness.

Love and Sunshine!
