How to Stay Grounded and Calm in Times of Stress

unwind your mind every day

Meditation is a classic way to let the mind unwind. Remember though, meditation does not have to necessarily mean you sit on a cushion for hours! That works wonderfully for some people, but not for others. Find a task where your mind can rest in whatever it is you're doing, whether that be sitting, cleaning, doing the dishes, drinking tea, or anything else! Without this time, the mind gets cluttered, and it's easy to get ungrounded, distracted, and anxious.

take Adaptogens

Adaptogens are herbs that help the body adapt to stress. They work through many systems in the body, namely the endocrine, immune, and central nervous systems. Adatogens are some of the most incredible herbs I have encountered. Some of the more common adaptogens are Ashwagandha, Shatavari, Licorice, and Gineseng. My favorites tend to be Holy Basil, Rehmannia, Ashwagandha, and Shatavari.

nourish yourself

We all have activities that just make us feel better. It could be spending time with friends, reading a book, engaging in a favorite physical activity, cooking, taking a hot bath, participating in ceremony, or many more things! Just make sure that the ways you're nourishing yourself are health promoting for you! You don't want to take 1 step forward and 2 back every day!

Reframe your situation

We all experience stress, and believe it or not, stress isn't always a bad thing! Just take look at this Ted Talk by Kelly McGonigal about how to make stress your friend!

When I run after what I think I want, My days are a furnace of distress and anxiety; if I sit in my own place of patience, What I need flows to me, And without any pain.
